About this site Print this article

Hi, and welcome to this place.

I have missed a site on the net dedicated to usenet server administrators, with focus on how to get started, peering and practical tips on how to run a usenet server. Most of the sites I have found have been bound to specific software, and I've only found a single site that offer a general list of sites that request peering. Unfortunately, the list seems to be partly outdated.

The aim of this site is that it shall be a resource for the inexperienced usenet server admins (like myself). The pro's already knows everyhing worth knowing - right? But for the rest of us, running a newsserver can be a series of unpleasent experiences.

The first question one ask after a the newsserver software is installed is likely to be "how do I get feed to and from the server?" That was at least my first question. And the answer was not obvious. That's why I'm starting by providing a service where sites can request peering. You can add your own site, change the information as the site grows and changes, and remove it when peering is no longher required.

In order to add a peering request, you must register yourself as a user on this website. This is of course free. Your user-profile is only used on this site. It is not sold or used for any kind of commercial stunts. Personally I don't like sites that require me to register - but this is the easy way to allow you to change the peering request yourself at ay time. You don't need to wait for some moderator to update the record.

This website is provided by Jgaa's Internet, and it is ment as a free service. The only motivation is that I missed a site like this when I started up my own newsserver.

If you want to help out with this website, please give me a word at jgaa@jgaa.com.
